Creating Prehistoric Mesonyx - 3D Animation & Modeling
This project features a complete creation of an extinct prehistoric mammal in a 3D software. The animal of choice is a less known mesonyx species, from Eocene epoch with exceptional features like the hooves instead of claws, very large jaws and long tail.
The model of the creature is mainly based on scientific documentation, however because of lacking information, presumptions and personal sketches were used as well. This project takes the path of creating the animal from concept art to final render, through the complicated processes of modelling, texturing, rigging and animation. Explores the possibilities of Autodesk Maya in different aspects of the same tool and technical aspects of three-dimensional art. Everything was done to create a fully functional model for animation, print or film.
